7 Days of No Show!

For one entire week the television has been OFF, for Drew that is. He hasn't watched Sunny Patch or Sesame Street or a show on constuction vehicles, trains, or even animals. No show. Nada. We do this once in a while because he gets show-crazy, claiming that he NEEDS to watch something. Needs? Well, I need the down-time, but this week I sacrificed the calm 30 minutes that the tv brings. So instead of seeing the zoned out Drew (see top photo), I saw fun projects, play-dough dinosaurs, beautiful paintings, chalk on the sidewalk, tall block building, car races....everything that entertains when tv is not an option. I did suffer some tearfull moments, but they eventually passed. Here's the result of this weeks NO SHOW:

Hiking at the Audobon

Wendy and I took the boys for a mid-day hike today. It was incredibly gorgeous - the weather, the trails, the scenery. The boys had so much fun discovering along the way. We found a baby bird egg shell, beautiful butterflies, a hopping frog, and a snake! We ate lunch by the waterfall & pond - and the boys enjoyed throwing sticks and rocks into the water. Great day!!

Summer time FUN!

This past week was awesome - unbelieveably HOT - but awesome. We went to the beach a couple of times (Bonnet and NK), enjoyed some playdates, went to the zoo (loved the flutterby exhibit), went swimming at the Sterners, and enjoyed a BBQ party.

New Hampshire vacation...

We took our second family vacation EVER and this time we traveled with friends!! We went to New Hampshire and visited Storyland. Not only was New Hampshire (Glen, NH to be specific) beautiful, the amusement park was perfect for toddlers! It was so great hanging out with our good friends too. Once we put the little ones to bed, we enjoyed kid-free conversations, adult beverages, and games. (What more could one want?!?)

Drew's favorite thing about Storyland was the Bamboo ride - he's still talking about it! Despite the 4-hour-ride-back-from-NH-headache, everything was perfect!

One final look at the beauty which inspired us all weekend!

Fun

Saturday we went for a walk on the bike path...and watched the trains (of course!). Drew LOVES trains! And we all love walking together.

Family time ROCKS.

And today we met friends Heidi, Hannah, and Abby for a hike...and picnic lunch on the beach. It's days like these that I loooooove being in Rhode Island. It is so beautiful this time of year and there is so much to explore!
